Hospital Ministry

Karanda Mission Hospital serves as a tool to show the love of Christ in very practical ways. As we meet the often desperate health care needs of people we bring hope into people’s lives and have the opportunity to share with them the hope they can have in Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 2:10 says we have been chosen by God for good works. At Karanda we have a wonderful opportunity to live out this command of Christ. With 10-20 minor and major operations, 100+ inpatients, and 100+ outpatients daily Karanda has the opportunity to share the love of Christ to over 75,000 individuals annually through the hospital ministry.

The hospital is licensed for 150 beds and is almost always near or even over-capacity. Karanda performs over 4,000 surgical cases annually and is also known for treating HIV/AIDS and its complications, TB, obstetrics, chronic disease, and trauma. Karanda is blessed to have a staff of 6 Full Time medical providers(5 MDs and 1 PA) in addition to lots of help from short term visitors from all over the world. Karanda also frequently hosts medical students and junior doctors from the University of Zimbabwe. The patient population is drawn from the entire country, and even from neighboring Mozambique, Zambia, and Botswana, as people seek affordable, reliable, compassionate healthcare.
